The best sites in the Southeast Region
I have only been to 11 sites in this region, but I’ll still share my top 3. I’m almost done Florida, but otherwise have a ways to go in this region. I have no plans to take a major trip down south anytime soon, but you never know! I’m looking to finish up the Outer Banks parks within the next few years.
No. 3: Andrew Johnson NHS
I’m not sure why I loved Andrew Johnson NHS so much but I think the time of year had something to do with it. Everything was so pretty covered in the fall leaves. The site was done well and was very informative. I had no prior knowledge of Andrew Johnson, so I really learned a lot. Lastly, Greenville was is a nice town!
No. 2: Wright Brothers N MEM
The Wright Brothers N MEM will always be near the top of my list because it was my very first park, and what introduced me to the National Park Passport. The ranger talk that I attended is still one of my favorites to this day. The grounds were very pretty and it was such a nice day. All of these things really added to my experience.
No. 1: Great Smoky Mountains National Park
I think about the Smokies all the time. So much so that I planned my return trip for July 2022. I can’t wait to get back down there and hike more trails. There are so many classics in the Smokies that I must cross off my bucket list! Nothing beats the rolling hills, the history, or the beautiful waterfalls. Even if you are not a hiker, there is plenty to see and enjoy in the Smokies.
