Welcome to National Park Blogger! My site is geared toward all parks in the National Park system, big and small! However, I am also slowly working on my non-National Park resume. You will only find reviews for parks I have visited, so keep checking back for new reviews as I take more trips.
Whether you need day trip ideas, long weekend ideas, or a 2 week road trip itinerary, I’m here to help you plan! As a Maryland native I’m most familiar with the Baltimore, Washington D.C., and Northern Virginia areas.
2024 Trips
May 2024 – I really, really want to do a 2 night backpacking trip over Memorial Day Weekend. I’m speaking it into existence.
June – I’ll be headed to Kerr Lake for Father’s Day Weekend with Pop’s to boat and fish! The following week I’ll be going back to the Outer Banks for 3 nights in the Frisco area. I’ll also probably end up camping a night or two at Shenandoah right when school ends, as is tradition!
July – I will be going to Alaska mid-July for a huge celebration! I will have 11 nights: 5 nights near Denali, 1 night in Palmer, 4 nights in Seward, and then my last night will be in Fairbanks so I’m close to the airport.
Earlier in the month I’ll be spending 3 nights outside of Ocean City and I’ll drive to the beach each day to hang with my mom!
August – I’m sure I will find time to go camping or backpacking one last time, but that’ll be it so I can focus on marching band!
October – I’m doing a fall trip, I just don’t know how big it will be yet. The biggest it will be is a long weekend in New River Gorge National Park (a 4 hour drive). But it might be something simple like camping nearby, or maybe even just Shenandoah.
December – I am maybe, quite very possibly…going back to Hawaii to finish up those National Parks. I will fly into Oahu and stay a night or two on both ends of the trip, but will be flying to Maui to do Haleakala.
What else is coming to ‘National Park Blogger’?
Aside from National Park reviews and itineraries, be on the lookout for a whole section dedicated to the Appalachian Trail and some of its most famous trail towns. I am looking forward to adding these destinations to my travels.
I am also eager to improve my knowledge and experience in backpacking during 2023 and beyond. Eventually I hope to add gear recommendations and reviews.
Since heading to a new National Park multiple times a year is not in the budget, I try and scope out new State Parks every now and then. I have been to dozens of state parks in multiple states and look forward to adding information about them on here soon.
Lastly, I have come down with the desire to see every museum possible in Washington D.C.! I love DC and visit frequently. There is so much to see and do, and most of it is free. It’s a really nice alternative to a more expensive weekend trip.
Stay Tuned
I look forward to adding all of these park reviews to ‘National Park Blogger’ over the course of the year. Of course I know there will be some modifications, or some of the trips might not even happen. It’s always interesting to look back every December at where I actually got to go. There are always surprises, good and bad!
